17 / 1 / 97: Latest news was of the great party at the 3 Andys house and the magnicficent spread provided by hard working cooks. Tearful farewells ensued, but let's not be too sad- Dario gave me his CD player when he left. Now everyone's home for Christmas! More people to leave (for good) very shortly, including myself (in my dreams), Richard (in his dreams), Christian, Cesare, and Giuseppe. Simon N has got his sales job at Zeneca starting October 1. We still don't know if Fraser is off to America, but I'll be gone by then anyway. Latest Donkey winner: Me! And with a new record of over 95.8%. So ya-boo sucks to all those who thought I had gained respectability. Maybe I will publish the past donkeys on the web if people like the idea and ask for it. Maybe even some Andy Shipway-type humour... We'll see. Bye for now.
22 / 1 / 97: Some Andy Shipway-type humour is now officially on the web. Both myself and Richard have finished our thesis writing, but viva dates are yet to be agreed.
12 / 2 / 97: The donkey has been won for January (finally) by Sarah Howell (undergrad), and the donkey of the year 1996 by Christoph.
05 / 3 / 97: This is the page you love with the happening news from the JFS group! The Quotes Of The Day are almost ready for web publication. Richard and Myself are a gnats whisker away from submission. Christian has passed his viva, and Giuseppe has his in a few days. The third year project students are now nearly finished. The latest donkey was won by Simon N for letting a thief into the building, and the new Editor, Anthony did a fine job of the writeups. It is finally official that Fraser is off to UCLA, not that this is new news, but it is causing much to happen. I am creating a new web site for the group after relocation. I also have another idea. If you have news to tell, then email it to me and I can post it here 'from our correspondant in xxxx'. It beats me typing everything in myself. It would be cool for current group members to help also, but lets not dream too much. I know! Send me sections of email that other people send you, and I'll put them here. That would be cool. Also make sure you tell as many people as possible about these pages. I'll see you all soon.
17 / 3 / 97: Maybe I will start archiving all the old news to another page soon. The Chemistry Ball was on a couple of days ago and there are plenty of stories. Not mine to tell though, because I was not there. Not much happening in the group recently, really, but I would like to ask you all to meet me at a 'Palace' sometime. If you don't know what the virtual world 'The Palace' browser is all about, then check it out on the web, at http://www.thePalace.com/ ok? Cool. You can download the software from various ftp sites very fast and very free of charge. The Quotes of the Day should be on the web by now if that arsetit Anthony has done it.
18 / 5 / 97: Indeed the QOTD are now on the web, along with nice photographs. Latest news is the successful vivas of myself and Richard (note 'Dr' on my homepage title). I am now waiting for the outcome of my grant application for a year in Israel. The move to UCLA is getting very serious now, and people are getting ready for the off. Everything is being measured, and the first people (advance party) are leaving on July 1. There has been a meeting for JFS ex-members on the Palace, where a few of us had a good old natter with Giuseppe. Get involved with this! I'm not sure who the latest donkey winner is because it has not been brought to my attention. I am back playing football, and around graduation time (July 8) we could have an old boys v new boys game if anyone's interested.
